here is another video made by halley, showing the makeup of this Lamborghini Gallardo that is a public domain artwork in the openclipartlibrary.
this is done using the same python script as halley used on his other video.

These videos are roboticly creepy. Apart from not showing the process at all, simply assembling the overlays in the stack, they make one feel dizzy. Nice result, but the videos are useless.

@jimmac, i must disagree. i have only been drawing with vectors for about 18 months and after i got the basics, i learnt a lot from deconstructing other people’s drawings and learning how they stack the objects up.
but i do agree, they are limited, and not a substitute for a detailed tutorial… thanks for commenting and for your awesome icons!
@kayaone: do you mean illustrator as in the adobe program? if so this is actually the Open SOurce app, Inkscape.

As much as the vid is pretty interesting. I have to tell you, watching this the vid was like watching a math equation where half way thru there is ‘a miracle occurs’ event when the illustrator just drops in a fully formed body of the car. Like where did that come from?

That was both amazing and amazingly disappointing. I badly need to master the techniques used to make this fantastic drawing but the tutorial aspect was non-existent.

why don’t you make it a step by step procedure without using a video it will be more useful than to use a video.
