Suggest a tutorial

if you have seen a great inkscape tutorial, or have written one yourself, feel free to leave a comment on this page and as long as there are not too many tutorials that show the same process already listed, it will make it’s way on to the inkscapetutorials.wordpress.com blog…

    Hi

    Malte Rödl & i (Sebastian Kraft) create a little tutorial to create gradients that follow a path, also useful for some abstract stuff. You can check it here > http://needcoffee.deviantart.com/art/Gradients-To-Path-78650259

    Cheers,

    Sebastian

  3. Brynn Says:

    This is not to suggest a tutorial, but to suggest an improvement to this site. It would be VERY helpful if there were a list of tutorial titles from which to choose. I’m guessing I’m not the only visitor who does not care to scroll through pages and pages of tuts until they find what they’re looking for. The Category Cloud if far too broad and general to be helpful. Thanks for listening :)

  4. ry Says:

    @Brynn:
    Thanks for the comment!
    i have now created a text based list of all the tutorials on inkscapetuorials.wordpress.com…

    it can be accessed via the top menu…
    should i put it in a widget on the Right hand Side of the page? or will that be too much?

  5. ry Says:

    @Malte Rödl & Sebastian Kraft:
    Thanks for suggesting your tutorial guys!
    I have posted it now for you…

    Could whoever runs this pretty cool site make a Inkscape tutorial for this??

    @Sarah Morine: This blog is a list of all the third-party published inkscape tutorials that are about on the interwebs.

    I suggest going to maybe the Inkscape Forum ( http://www.inkscapeforum.com/ ) and maybe requesting your idea for a tutorial there…

    I dont get it? Third party published tuts? Interwebs?
    …to think I am a programmer…
    I will check out the forum.
    So what I think your saying is we have to have a website with some tutorial on it before we post here? .:puts on downcast face if right:.

  12. ry Says:

    its just that i don’t publish any original material on here, all the tuts are just links to other people’s work.

    You would be better off asking on their blogs or on the inkscape forum…

    My goal is just to collate a big list of all the inkscape tutorials…

    :)

    Thanks!! I “love” it lol. I have a few others that are for adobe but I am sure they can be converted to inkscape. That might make my family enjoy this site more.

    Dear friends,

    I find this blog really interesting, but a big drawback is that I did not find which license is used by the tutorials.

    My opinion is that it would be nice using some Creative Commons license for the whole blog and put it on a visible link in the homepage.

    I have translated some tutorials into Catalan and would like to publish them into the website of Softcatala (www.softcatala.org) a non-profit NGO that translates software (mainly free software) into Catalan. I have a deep respect for the creators of these tutorials and would never publish them if I’m not allowed to do it.

    Will you use such a license for your blog? Who can I ask for permission to publish some turtorials?

    Best regards from Catalonia

    Francesc

  21. ry Says:

    @Francesc Dorca:
    the aim of this blog is to collate a list of tutorials from all over the web, thus i cannot give any indication of copyright, you will have to ask the author of each individual tutorial. 39. Brynn Says:

    Yikes!
    It’s not like me to overlook replies to my messages. But somehow I did not see your reply to my 2-28-08 message. Sorry ryan, I’m really, really sorry. Because I do SO appreciate the list of tutorials that you made, following my suggestion! And I did notice the topic thread at InkscapeForums.com (which I think is a sticky/pinned now). I use the list every time I visit this site (which is fairly often). It meets my needs in every way. Thank you very much!

    Also I wanted to suggest a tutorial on how to use tiled clones to create a webpage background, using Inkscape. Ideally this would include the proper code for the webpage. I have learned basic html, but am still quite fuzzy about xml. However, I’m up for learning whatever is appropriate ;)

    I have found these tuts:
    –create a desktop background by tracing bitmaps and overlaying them
    http://inkscapetutorials.wordpress.com/2008/01/17/create-a-desktop-background-by-tracing-bitmaps-and-overlaying-them/
    and
    –Episode 004 – Create Tiled Clones by heathenx
    http://inkscapetutorials.wordpress.com/2007/06/16/inkscape-tutorial-by-heathenx-create-tiled-clones/
    and
    –A Vine Design – A Tiling Example
    http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/TilePattern.html

    The 1st and last of those don’t quite extend to getting the background on a webpage. And I can’t seem to get heathenx’s screencast to display. Granted it may come down to spending some time troubleshooting to get it to play. But it would be great if this topic is addressed in written form somewhere.

    Thanks for your help. And especially thanks for the list of tutorials. It really is a great resource!

    I have been searching for a tool that can be used to design furniture. I worked with Blender briefly but found that 3D visualisations aren’t necessary. I then found Inkscape. I fumbled and stumbled my way through a successful drawing that I was then able to use when working with wood.

    It would be very interesting to see how someone knowledgeable would tackle a similar project. For example, a drawing of cabinet, chest of drawers or a bookcase with specific dimensions that would be used as a cutting guide. If there where then some way to create an exploded view of the same project, that would be great.

    In advance, thanks.

    This is a wonderful tool, but I am missing a basic concept, and think it would help me, and many others to understand how to work with an ai formatted file if one wants to use one of the portions of the file. Several files I have downloaded have beautiful design elements with complex backgrounds and all I want to work with is the actual design element, not the element and the background. i had read somewhere to drag the item to the swatches palette then save it (in AI) as an image, but haven’t been able to accomplish that in Inkscape.
